Educators' Expo is an annual 2-day event sponsored by the Curry School of Education Career Services Office. The Expo attracts approximately 400 education students from all academic levels. Generally 80-110 employers participate to recruit for full-time & summer positions.

  • Student Information
  • Employer or Recruiter Information
  • Educators' is open to all candidates (not just U.Va. students) interested in K-12 school counseling, administration, teaching or other positions (SLP, Nurse, etc.). Over 75 organizations will be in attendance on 2/11 with many returning to interview on 2/12; View the list of participants and the anticipated hiring needs from 2009-10 here:     Educators Expo spreadsheet . Please be aware that anticipated hiring needs are subject to change at any time.

Educators' Expo is free for the candidates and does not require advance registration. Just sign in each day of the event you attend: Newcomb Hall, 3rd floor. Although we have had snow numerous years, it has never canceled the event (only U.Va. closing due to bad weather would cancel this event). Call 434-924-SNOW if you are concerned this might happen.

Accomodations: We have arranged competitive rates with the following hotels, so be sure to book early to take advantage of these rates. Best Western Cavalier Inn for $77/night (book online at https://reservations.ihotelier.com/crs/g_reservation.cfm?groupID=398395&hotelID=15433 ) or the Charlottesville Doubletree Hotel for $89/night (call 800-494-9467). All have double or king sized beds. There are a limited number of rooms that may fill quickly, and blocks may be dropped starting 1/10/10 so be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible.

Directions and Parking: Non-local participants can find additional information regarding directions and parking information (be sure to follow the directions to the parking garage in front of Newcomb Hall and NOT the UVA Health system) and hotel accommodations in the Charlottesville area. I have reserved blocks of rooms at reduced rates for those attending the Educators' Expo. Be sure to mention this event when you call to make your reservation:

Please note that UVA's main parking garage does not accept credit cards so bring cash or check. The garage can also fill up quickly, so be prepared to walk from the alternative parking locations (the Corner on University Avenue or other UVA parking facilities). Because parking is limited in and around U.Va., consider taking a hotel shuttle or a taxi or carpool with friends. Due to the high cost of the parking in this area, a taxi may be a more affordable option.

If the hotel you're staying in does not provide a shuttle service, try the Charlottesville Transit Service. For more information about that service, go to: http://www.charlottesville.org/Index.aspx?page=662

    Curry Career Resources

Curry students seeking work outside of K-12 education in research, clinical, or the non-profit sector, or those that have questions about future higher education opportunities should start their search with Curry’s Career Services office, but may decide to tap into the broader U.Va. career services offerings.

University Career Services (UCS) offers both counseling appointments and walk-in hours to all students at U.Va. (except those in the Darden, Law and Medical schools, which have their own student and career services). General walk-ins last about 15 minutes and are intended for quick resume and cover letter critiques. For additional questions and assistance, students will be encouraged to make an appointment for a later date. Sorry, we do not offer same-day 45 minute appointments.

Unless otherwise indicated, all UCS counseling is held in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium. Appointments are offered throughout the year, Monday through Friday. Call 924-8900 or drop by UCS to schedule a time.
